New boards of Deathgorge!

Hello everybody and welcome back to a new article about boards!
The new season has been announced, and they showed two brand new boards in the announcement video! We will see them soon

First bad news: sadly with the new season we will say goodbye to some of the best boards we’ve ever had… let’s see the ones we will leave at home in the first Deathgorge tourney:

My favorite one of these boards is Profane Larder without any doubt, I think I have used it a thousand of times. I’ll miss a lot also the Chamber of Genesis, that was a good V board.

But now good news!

Look that squid! I can’t wait to paint it!

Let’s start saying that they are both stunning from an artistic point of view, we like colors and drawing, this new environment is something we love! We will analyze these boards starting from the left one and then we will see the right one. As always many thanks to WathLab for the graphic support 🙂

The Frozen Monolith (actual official name: Frost Wracked ruins)

The Frozen Monolith is a very interesting board. The distribution of starting hex is amazingly symmetrical and it reminds me the Profane Larder’s one. The blocked hex in the middle may be very thematic and useful to stop r 2 attacks (be careful if you have many ranged attacks), while the two cover hexes can help your fighters to be safe (but be careful to not help the opponent).
For hold objective or flex players: This board is not a V or Delta board, but it can be okay if you want to place an objective token in enemy territory. The blocked hex and the cover hexes can help you to stay safe. it’s amazing how well you can deploy fighters of a large warband, I will use it and recommend it without any doubt!
For aggro players: This board is okay for aggro too, you wont’ ever be too far from the opponent, but maybe you can find something better.

Mortal Snowstorm (actual official name: Rimehowl Scoring)

Mortal Snowstorm is the second board we see. Well, this board is more complex to be used properly. Starting hex have a pretty good distribution here too, but the presence of lethal and snare hex next to them may make 2 of them useless.
For hold objective players: this board is a Delta board, so you will have the possibility to place objective in a very good way, but sadly you won’t be able to deploy your fighter in a good way, so I think this board won’t be very used. If you don’t need to hold 3 objectives, it may be nice if you want to longboard and you want to wait the enemies in your territory: that lethal hex can be very tricky for them, I think it is in one of the worst spots for the enemy.
For aggro players: I think you can use this board mainly if you have the boards orientation, since you can place 3 fighters in the first two lines, menacing a lot of enemy fighters.

So, hoping to see more soon, this is all. What do you think about these new boards, do you like them? I personally can’t wait to see more about this new season, and to play the squid as soon as possible!
